Default my bottle of dried mustard

said for "spicy" mustard to mix 1/4 cup with 2tsp of water

I did 1/8 cup and 1tsp

and it about burned my tongue off, it tasted like pure horseradish---I do not see how this stuff is considered edible and why they would put that on the side of the jar.

Anyway, in my fit of rage I mixed it with ketchup, mayonnaise, and honey until it was sweet and only slightly tangy.

I was making hammiches (croissoint, ham, mustard, and cheese) and I realized I didnt have any mustard so I uhh was looking for substitutes

you do realize that you did the exact same proportions as described for "spicy" mustard, no?

anyway. i've ony seen it in a little spice jars and used in very very sparing amounts in some dishes.. where do you get a jar of dried mustard.. and why? bause it lasts longer?

you made half the spicy recipe. i probably would like it that spicy though. i haven't ate anything in years without drowning it in hot sauce or horseradish, and i have the heartburn to prove it

yeah I know I made half the recipe, I didn't want to waste the entire bottle of dried mustard--I dont know why I put that tidbit of info in there for you guys

But I didnt put a lot on the hammiches cause I was afraid it was still too spicy, but after having made them I really can't tell a difference between the ones with the "mustard" and ones without.

And I didnt go to the store becuase I am lazy. I tried to tell one of my friends (who is also my neighbor) that I would make him food if he brought me mustard, but everyone is hung over and noone wants to eat anything.

Perhaps you could try to mix a small amount of mustard into mayonaise until you get a creamy musrard type spread of your desired spiciness.

I would start with a quarter cup of mayo and half a teaspoon of mustard and go up from there.

And remember, you can always put more in, but you can't take it out!

yeah I ended up with kind of that mixture in the end, but I also added some ketchup and honey (it turned out kind of sweet)

I was hoping to stumble across something amazing but I didn't

You probably ended up with something like a sweet thousand island dressing without the relish, actually.
