those Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets come out today and my mother and i went to the mall to get six of them, and my grandmother already bought ten, and i was reading the sign they had posted, and it said they were donating $5 or every bracelet purchase to some breast cancer fund. they sell them for $50 and i honestly dont think that it costs that much to make them.

But here i am trying to think that a company is doing something for the greater good, when it seems that they are capitalizing on the growing trend of people feeling that they need to give, and offering some trite bejeweled object to give off the appearance that they have compassion when all they want is to make profit.

i dont know, if i am wrong, i take back my "fuck you."

i'd rather just donate directly than buy stupid bracelets to show of the fact that i am sensitive and concerned about the world

i'm not sure i read that right... they sell a bracelet for $50, and $5 of that is what gets donated to the cause?

it comes out to $53.25 and $5 get donated to some cancer society.

i would donate directly as well- or do it on behalf of someone and at least they get a tax break. Its not as pretty as a bracelet or anything, but its a better idea. I was talking to the woman at the breast cancer society today and i'm thinking of making a donation under my parent's name for their anniversary.
