Default i miss the sound that a rotary phone makes as it moves back to its original position.

you know, when you're dialing.
it's a really soothing sound. i think i need to buy a rotary phone.
do you guys remember those old cable boxes where you would have to change the channel by sliding a button to the left or right lighting up the channel that you selected? did your parents ever get mad at you when you slid the button way too fast skipping many channels at a time and demand that you move the button one channel at a time?

i have no idea what you're talking about the buttons, but man, i remember rotary phones were so much fun. if you wanted to call in to a radio show or something there was like no chance in hell you'd make it, because it took so long to dial the number the sound they made was pretty cool indeed...

The sound of the dial was/is great, but I also especially love the rich, mellow tone those old phones make when they ring. I installed a '40s bakelite wall phone in my kitchen ... usually never use it to make calls, but it is the phone that rings in the house when someone calls me.

haha that's right. i want to get a rotary phone so that when i move back to austin i have one but my friend insists that it's not a good idea since you need a touch tone phone when dialing 911 now. they make you choose between the fire, police, and ems services.

the only thing that sucks is you can't use them while calling the automatic teller lines or how's that called - where you you're supposed to press number and such.

We didn't have the slider kind of cable box, but I know people who have

We had one that had a row of buttons and a switch with three positions that detemined what range of channels those buttons effect
