Not necessarily.

Decent airfaire and hotel package from Expedia.com (round-trip from TX to Vegas in December): $270
Marriage license: $55
Basic ceremony (plus minister tip): $80
Fancy dinner: $0 (free gift after doing a time share presentation)
Vegas show: $0 (free gift after doing a time share presentation)
Gondala ride: $0 (free gift after doing a time share presenation)
Wax museum admission: $0 (free after doing a time share presentation)
Other food, drinks, gambling, taxi rides: $100
Total: $505

And that reminds me...you can get married in a gondala at the Venetian. No clue how much it costs, though.

We're all about them. We've gotten all kinds of free shit (including airfare and hotel for Vegas) by sitting there for an hour and then saying "no".

Yeah that seems pretty neat Their starting package is $750... even their most expensive package is a lot cheaper than that other site I posted.

And they come w/ a video of the ceremony/an hour of photography/champagne/a gift certificate for both to a day in a spa... boquet and bout.

Their packages are alittle over priced for what I want... but you can pick and choose and their rooms and all look nice. I'm glad you mentioned it!

I'm really liking this idea of getting married at the Venetian. That's definately an option. Zach also mentioned something about getting married at the beach... or a vinyard or something. I'll look into those too.

You could always do what we did for our vow renewal... Public beach and a friend that was ordained via the internet. All you would have to pay for is the marriage license.

What's another 15 years or whatever it's been? Just wait until everything is right. Don't rush anything. If you're lucky, y'all will be in your early 40s when it all comes together.

Yeah, but we'd be having a traditional wedding later (paid for us so we could do it as we wanted) with all our family and friends. So we wouldn't totally be forgoing the traditional wedding, it would just be a quicker way for us to get to be together so we didn't have to wait a year and a half.

And yeah that place is over priced. I was just browsing. I don't want anything ultra cheesy or anything.
i don't understand why you can't "be together" without eloping

We're not living together before we're married. And I can't really afford to live on my own right now (which is why I moved back in w/ my mom) ... but we probably won't elope because I can't transfer schools. So. :/

I was wanting to go to TCU, which is in Ft. worth and I missed the transfer application deadline, and my gpa isn't high enough. And they're like $9k a semester, where as I'm paying $3k a semester right now. If I waited a semester or two to when I got my gpa up high enough then I'd have too many hrs (you can't transfer w/ only 30 hrs left) ... so I guess it's okay. We'll just wait. It's only two years. Plus that will give us more time so we can go through our premarriage counseling we're required and I can finish the rcia program and plan our wedding (which will be in exactly 2yrs) the way we'd like it to be.

It still kind of sucks though. But I guess it's okay.

Why TCU? Overpriced education that's not good - trust me on this one.

Why not UTA or UNT? Hell, UTD offers just as good as computer programs as TCU.

UTA's one of the best computer education schools in the state.

I'm an english and education major now.

Zach said driving every day to UTA (he now lives in white settlement) would be too far w/ gas this high. It's like a 30/40 minute drive if the traffic is good.
