Default firefly.

i started watching this show this week. man it is awesome. a few things to point out.

what was fox thinking by releasing that episode first? what a monumentally stupid decision. that 2 hour episode was soooo much better.

anyway. i want to have joss whedon's babies.

its like fox purposefully didnt want it to succeed. i am confused as to why they would make so many decisions to fuck such a great show over.

I agree. I think they probably did it because they went to Joss Whedon and said "Hey, make us a show!" and he said "Sure!" and it wasn't what they wanted it to be, and he wouldn't change it.

I could be totally wrong though.

I love the show. I hope they start making it again once the contract with Fox runs out.

Thumbs up

You outta get the DVDs because the commentaries give a lot of insight, plus I heard they weren't airing them in widescreen on TV. I've watched the episodes for the original airing, then on DVD, now watching all the commentaries, and I might rewatch the whole thing again right before the movie, it's so good.

Oh yeah if you didn't know there's a 3 issue comic that ties the series to the movie.

Also if you didn't know, Mal's nickname is Captain Tightpants.

Talking

There's a documentary thing extra in the box set where they talk about it, basically they thought it was too complicated having so many characters and they wanted to throw people straight into the action - from the sound of things they never really warmed to it at all. Apparently it wasn't as popular with the typical sci-fi demographic or something, even though it was more popular with others, so they never really gave it a chance. But yeah it is awesome, and like Ron Glass says, maybe when the movie's out someone will approach them and say 'hey let's make a tv series about that'

It's because he made this $10 million masterpiece introducing and establishing all the characters and their relationships, showed it to Fox, and they said nah we need something with more action. I could look up a quote.

I'm 99% sure they won't make a series again, just movie sequels. I would love a series, I don't think the fox contract is relevant because at the time of cancellation fox gave them the opportunity to shop it around and even kept the sets up longer than they needed to just in case.

Cheapskate. Yeah I have never been that interested in commentaries but with these ones they're just as good as watching the episode.
