Yeah we were trying to show Ritchey (*growl*) that last week and saw it was covered up...were they still sealing the seams or whatever they were doing?

I have yet to even go to the new park. It just doesn't interest me.

it's pretty boring imo. there's so many other cool parks in chicago, and the gimmicks in millennium park are pretty stupid i think.

I do see lots of nice parks along the red/brown lines that I would like to go to sometimes but i'm not much of a reader so I have no idea what I would do at a park by myself. Shit, I live next to one and never go except on weekends to play some baseball with my nephew.

yeah, they were buffing out the seams to make it perfectly smooth, and i guess they had to do it during summer due to how the bean swells.

i think millenium park is a great addition. the skating rink is nice in the winter, the free concerts in the awesome pavillion are nice (not that i went to one ), and the sculpture is good. mostly i like it because it is a free place to go downtown, which is something that i think we don't have enough of.

when i go to the park by myself i don't do much. i don't usually read. i walk around and look at the plants, lie down in the grass, people watch, and move on. i can't sit in the park for hours. or, well, i possibly can but i don't. i should take up reading in the park this fall.

i agree that there are tons of cool parks, though. hey, tomorrow night this is going on:

TicketsNow, in connection with the Oz Park Advisory Council, is pleased to invite you to a FREE big screen viewing of The Wizard of Oz in Chicago’s famous Oz Park. Enjoy one of America’s most memorable movies under the stars in one of Chicago’s most beautiful parks!

The movie begins at dusk, but come early. Bring your blankets, your picnic basket, and your friends and family. See giant statues of famous Oz characters, including the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow as you stroll along Oz Park’s yellow brick roads.

Oz Park—Intersection of Lincoln and Webster, Chicago
August 27th, 2005—Dusk (approx. 7:30 pm)
Picnics and beverages allowed

anyone want to go? i have never been to Oz Park and I like that movie. I think the person who did the Oz Park sculptures is the same person who designed the Billy Corgan instrument stands for his tour. Wait -- don't let that deter you.

Bring a camera along. I've found some really cool places in parks around here. Some cool photos I've taken recently

"Japanese meditation garden in one of the big parks in Hyde Park"

I think the name is Osaka Gardens in Jackson Park.
