Worst car accidents you've been in/seen/heard of

Just wondering because about 10 miles away from my house there was a dump truck who's brakes went out and hit a bus and caused an pile up involving 12 other cars. Pretty awsome. I've never been in a really bad accident myself, though.

Oh, it just came on the news. At least 5 people died, pretty crazy.

i was in a 12 car pileup and permanently damaged (minor) my left hand

nobody died though

There was some jackass about 10 minutes from here that stopped in the middle of highway 30 because he was pissed at a guy tailgaiting him, and started a 10 car pileup. Don't think anyone died though. I think the guy got arrested.

I was coming home from Detroit with my two roommates, and we were driving along I-94, and somewhere around Kalamazoo, maybe an hour before...we hit this horrible snow storm that came out of nowhere. All of the cars in front of us and behind us slammed on their brakes and went everywhere. People slid off to every side of the road, into other cars, etc. It was almost like it was in slow motion...so I freak out because my neon start sliding. I have to make a decision on what to hit, the mini-van in front of me or the cement wall divider. I'm going about 30mph at this point and I decide to go for the wall, since I wouldn't have to exchange insurance info with the wall.

We hit the wall and bounce off, back into traffic...barely missing another car and almost getting hit from behind by someone else spinning out. We finally slid to a stop in the middle of the expressway. We took a breath, then got the fuck out of there. Went to Burger King, and I got out to survey the damage...and there wasn't even a scratch on my car. I have no idea how we even made it out of it alive, when we were driving away from it all, we could survey the damage...jeeps turned over on the side of the road, cars mangled with each other, vehicles turned every which way...and about 3 state troopers and 1 ambulance had already come by to help.

It ended up snowing so much that by the time we left Burger King, there was already 3" on the ground at least. The entire way home I had to drive a max of 40mph, and it was impossible to even stay on the road because it was so slippery and just covered in nothing but slick snow and ice. I cried for a big portion of the way home because I had this awful feeling that we were never going to make it home. It took us 7 or 8 hours from the accident to get home, when it should've normally only taken 2 or 3 max. I hope I never have to witness something like that again, it wasn't as bad as it could've been...but god it was the scariest shit I've ever been involved in.

I saw a guy get dragged underneth a Ford Mustang for about 600 yards. All that was left of him was a spine.
