Should I be pissed at my brother? Advice needed.

First I'll start with a little back.ground of the story.
My parent's gave my brother half of the land of a 4 acre property so that he and his family could live next to us. He decided that he could save money by building his house by himself. I've helped him with some of the grunt work like nailing the siding, carrying the shingles up to the roof, painting the frames, etc. Some of the times he's asked me to help him and sometimes i've offered to help him on my own. Now I'll get to where the problem begins. The Spurs won the NBA championship the other night and since my brother was at the SBC center I called him and asked him to buy me a Spurs Championship 2005 t-shirt. I told him I'd pay him back for it. I half expected him to say that since I had been helping him with his house that I wouldn't have to pay him back. Well he never said such a thing. I payed him the money for the t-shirt and now I feel angry because I've spent many hours helping him on his house and he couldn't even pay for a $27 t-shirt for me. The money isn't even what matters though. I felt like helping him out is what a good brother should do but now since he didn't even offer to let me keep the money for the t-shirt I don't think I want to help him with his house anymore. Do you guys think that my decision is justified or am I being a little overly dramatic about this?

if i were you id avoid paying him for a while, then when he'd nag me about it i'd get pissed and pour my rage on him...
either way though i can see why youre pissed and i think its pretty justified.

Apparently, Your brother didn't think to relate the shirt to the work that was done for him. He probably thinks you're helping him out of the kindness of your heart, since you haven't asked for any type of compensation. He probably isn't the type of person to think of things like "Maybe i should just buy it for him, he's been helping me a ton". This guy knows no better.

a better reply would be to say that i'm a sports fag but that's not true because the only team i watch is the spurs.

Yep. He isn't the type of person to show appreciation for the actions and the kindness of others. I feel kind of betrayed in a way. ********** makes a good point though...maybe he'll be there for me sometime in the future when I really need him and maybe I shouldn't burn this bridge now.
He's outside right now working on the house but I'll be damned if I'm going to go out and help him. I'm at the height of being pissed off right now and I'm going to ride it out through it's completion.

Honestly, I'd be upset too. But, some people just think differently about things like this. So, while I understand why, I don't think no longer helping your brother out is the answer.
