I read the 2001 book a few years ago. Due to my to bart simpson like inability to retain or comprehend information I'm afraid I cannot indulge much in this conversation. I do remember the book being more revealing than the movie and I got through it in a few days (which is speed reading for me).

I know this guy who has pretty much every book, article, or magazine that Aurther C. Clark has been a part of so it was always my plan to read all the books in the series. Just kind of slipped off my agenda radar. I loved the Rama books.

yeah, i think i might do the same thing. i feel like i'm being sucked into a vortex of astrofictional wonderment. i'm going to read 2061 next, but i'm REALLY looking forward to 3001: The Final Odysee. it sounds like the most xtreme book ever.

Yeah, 2001 and 2010 are both awesome, but if you ask me 2061 and 3001 get exponentially worse. I don't much care for those. I agree about Rama, especially the first one, Rendevous with Rama. That book fucking rules. Also check out Childhood's End. That's my favorite honestly. Cradle is good too, and um, what was it called. Prelude to Space is alright. Good luck! I'm glad you've been enjoying them.
But yeah, Childhood's End!
