small elements of songs that ruin everything

i don't know if anyone else is having the same problems, but if you do, please share it. It's small parts of songs, a horrible short guitarsolo is the biggest thing, not really big stuff like vocals or lyrics or stuff like that.

1. joy division - insight : song goes well, depression is building, suddenly everything stops and the sound of a laser gun from star wars emerges from the speakers. good for the atmosphere? NOT.

2. blur - this is a low ; quiet ballad, beautiful to my ears, but for some f*cking reason they have a small "boing", like a wooden ruler being banged against a table.

3. the libertines - cant stand me now : when one of the singers sings "the boy kicked at the world, the world kicked back, a lot fucking harder", the K in the fuck is pronounced in such a disgusting way that i can't enjoy the song.

I really can't stand the "I'm in love with you" part in Luna. I realize that isn't really a *small* part of the song but it really ruins the album for me. I mean...I still love the album of course...it just isn't as perfect as it should have been.

i don't think billy songs will come up much in this thread (relative to what one could expect on a smashing pumpkins fansite). when he fucks up, it's alwayd a huge misstep, like the entire adora album and machina. Every part sucks on those two.

modest mouse - tiny cities made of ashes. the yelling in the chorus and the effect put on the yelling. it's grating as fuck. but it's over the coolest groove ever.

To be honest with you...

I wish the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" would have just stayed a beautiful ballad. It goes all nuts with the orchestra part, and then the Paul part, and then the orchestra part again. And then at the very end it has the EEEEEE frequency sound and then that tape loop.

The John/acoustic guitar parts are better. It would be my absolute favorite Beatles song had it kept that consistency.

Yeah, I agree. This part is pretty lame. It just seems like too positive of an end for the album. Sweet Sweet is enough positive for me, end on something more dramatic. I guess. Well, I don't like it either.

that fucking crank noise in Bowie's The Man That Sold The World makes the song completely unlistenable to me. Anytime I hear that stupid crank in other songs, it pisses me off. There is a little bit in a weakerthans song on the new album and it bothers the hell out of me.

Bedshaped by Keane. I love this ballad but then towards the end before the psycadelic solo, theres this weird "OHH OHH OHH" that sounds like its being sung backwards that grates my ears everytime I hear it...! :erm
