nautical miles
orenthal james brought this to my attention the other day and i was all like whoa and we were all like whoa.
a nautical mile is equal to one minute (1/21,600th) of the circumference of the earth. i never knew that. never had any use for this information. but i still find it really fucking cool. and entirely logical. |

There are 360 degrees in a full circle, and you can divide each degree up into 60ths, called minutes. And you can divide each of those up into 60 seconds, if you like. It confused me when I first heard someone talking about minutes and seconds in the context of angles
