I'm just experimenting with partypoker.com but as far as I can see you can't make a private table. any suggestions on an alternative where you can?
i know you can on yahoo but what do people feel about that. their system is limited in many respects. you can't go 'all in' for example.

my suggestion would be to split the pool of players off into maybe 3 sections, then they can each have a qualifying round where the top 3 players from each section go through to the final table of 9 players. it might be easier to decide the exact setup of the game when we've decided where we'll play it - yahoo, partypoker, tiger etc (i'm still waiting for my username/e-mail to be verified on tiger)

so...thoughts?

Splitting the group like you said sounds like a good idea.

I don't know of any sites that have the option of opening a private table though

I'm not too sure about the private tables. It's a possibility, because i've played at tables where it's just me and my friends. There is also a waiting button for tables too.
i've just downloaded it...you can't make a private table.

unless anyone can suggest one where you can, it'll have to be Yahoo Games. the system's not as good but at least it won't take forever to get everyone in the right room.

you can create your own room at www.pokerroom.com but the highest it goes is $100 - $200 no limit.

i don't understand why a majority of these online poker sites don't have private tables.

i dont think yahoo has a no limit.
in fact, i think the most you can raise a bet is 2$, and you start with 1000$ and its all fake money, anyway

yea and it gets lamer:
you win or lose 1000 or 2000 dollars a hand in blackjack, and it uses the same number for poker and bj.

so there are these nerds who cant play hold em for shit but who have 5,000,000$ from playing blackjack against the computer

Any update on this? I have a weird work schedule, so I can't guarantee I'll be able to play if it's not soon.

Thumbs up

I had never ever played poker before last Saturday night, and there were like 8 of us, and we were playing Texas Hold em, and I kicked everyone's ass and won. I was astounded.
