man, i've been spot-on with my predictions so far. i called tony being the 'friend' jack called, and knew it was going to be michelle coming to replace whatsherface as soon as a replacement was mentioned. but yeah, this is the first season of the four that i haven't watched in like a two day period so it's kind of hard to get as into it.

i start getting giddy like a little kid at 8:59 every monday. i called michelle when they said the replacement was at CTU. i can't believe that the "tech officer" from that defense contractor actually thinks he can take out jack.

they did the "pinch" though. that was pretty cool.

I missed it tonight

I fell asleep a little after 7 and just woke up. Ugh. What'd I miss?

spoiler...

Jack and Paul (yes Audrey's ex husband) went to the office building of the defense contractor because it turns out the guy they were tracking last week that was running the override actually was working for the company that makes it and was the chief engineer on the team. while there, the company, who is worried about news getting out that an employee was responsible for the days events, fires up a prototype weapon they are working on that sends a massive electrical pulse throughout the area and frys every piece of electronic equipment in the area. they do this because paul is doing a good job of evading their efforts to prevent him from looking into the terrorists files. paul did some work for the software company that installed their system and was able to go in through some back door to get at the info.

paul manages to print out some encrypted message and tries to escape but is caught on the way out.

Michelle takes over for Tony as head of CTU after Tony takes over for Erin when her daughter offed herself last week.

that's the gist

oh...their alluding to a bigger event that was supposed to happen on top of the rest of the days events.

I've only just seen Ep 10, where at the end Jack punches Paul in the head. awesome season thus far

while its hard to have a "bad" 24 episode in general, I thought tonight's was a little off. I didn't get the reasoning of the bad guys, if Habib (love that name, btw) did all those evil doings without thier knowledge.

That and the very end of the episode, what with Jack fancing down the EMP bomb, just felt like a 50 sci-fi serial. Somehow I doubt him holding onto the bar and screaming will be used in a 24 best-of clip reel.

Still, best show on TV fo shizzle.

I'm taping it. I will watch it when I get off.

I haven't read this thread yet.

PS, recorded 24 is so much better, sans commercials. Not all shows benefit as much from that

one thing that bugged me...

nobody could use a phone after the pulse went off, but the guys in the company could use walkie-talkies?

tonight was a day/night transition episode, man the sun sets fast in 24 land. I think this one took about 2 minutes to set.

On a semi-related note, I wish they'd go back to the midnight to midnight format. I thought the show looked cooler when over half of it took place at night. This start-the-day-off durring the morning/afternoon stuff they've been doing since season 2 is for the birds.

Yes. Flashlights also work. Battery powered devices without complex electronics would not be affected.

thanks, man.

actually, my more detailed completely uninformed opinion is that the show seems gimmicky, but in a pretentious as opposed to satirical or purely entertaining kind of way.

oh and also, I still thing the EMP bomb in this week's episode was a leftover from Star Trek: TOS. I was waiting for the thing to start waxing philisophical on the laws of Vanatu.
