Augh, Vice City help

I'm doing the Malibu Club Asset missions and I'm going crazy trying to beat the getaway driver, Hilary. Any tips?

And just for kicks, how far have all you progressed in the game?

i just got a playstation 2. i'm playing GTA3 for the first time now. then i'll get to Vice City after i beat it. the hardest mission for me on the first island is the Turismo. i suck at it.

I haven't gotten that far yet in Vice City.

I only just made it to the second section; the last mission I beat was the one where you steal the boat.

Well, the driving is fixed so that when the race begins, you drive a Sentinel (which is not as good in Vice City as in 3, medium-speed, below-average handling) and he drives a Sabre Turbo (which normally doesn't handle very well, but the computer is excellent with it and is fucking FAST). You basically don't have enough time to look for a Comet, Banshee, Infernus. I can't even get a Sniper shot off into his tires to make it easier for me. Gamefaqs doesn't help all too much. I read through a few FAQs and got "Good luck!"

yeah but i usually wreck or get rammed off the road too much and either the car explodes or i get way behind.

That problem is compounded by the fact that the Banshee has all the physical endurance of a fruit fly. Keep at it. You'll eventually get the nuances of driving really fast nonstop down, and then it'll be easy. Promise

The Banshee sucks in GTA3 because of it holds up pretty poorly. The Infernus, Cheetah, Borgnine Taxi and Infernus hold up just fine. Ryan, if you do the Firefighter Missions on the first island, you'll find yourself putting out the fire on some of these vehicles early in the game and can take them if you feel like it.

Wait a minute, isn't the "Turismo" mission the one that contains an Invincible Diablo Stallion, Cheetah or Infernus or something of the sort? I say you find the strategy to get that man. If you'd like to save yourself some hell later on.

I like the Stinger, personally, as well as the Cheetah & the Infernus. But the Borgnine Taxi?? :erm

It's the first mission that El Burro gives you; the street race on the first island. Is that the same one you're talking about?

I like that damn Taxi! Good handling, above-average speed, can take a few hits!

But yeah, it's the El Burro mission that I was thinking of. Supposedly if you line up a bunch of tanks in a certain area, all the other cars will crash into them and of course instantly explode except for one that just tries to keep ramming or something of the sort. Or it has something to do with failing the mission and taking the car. I dunno. Read GameFAQs about it.

it just takes practice, if you learn how to dodge traffic you'll win easily becuz hillary will eventually be slowed down by hitting other cars. i beat all the missions over a month ago...

It's impossible to switch cars during the race and finish 1st... so the trick is to pull out in front of or run into Hillary in the beginning of the race and knock him behind you... the best time to do it is in the very beginning before you make any turns... just run him off the side of the road.

Bullshit. The regular Taxi, yes. The Borgnine is all fucked up. Rolls more than Ihaman, and doesn't stand up worth shit. Possibly the Zebra Taxi, but not the Borgnine.

did you get 100%?
i'm still doing the tedious stuff.
i have 29 taxi passengers to drop off and 7 jumps to do.
i haven't played since the beginning of december and i dont feel too much like doing those things right now.

i'll get the 100% eventually. it seems to be harder to hit some of the jumps in vice city as compared to gta3

I beat that mission by getting at least 4 stars, then starting the mission. Its not that easy this way either, but everytime the mission starts, the police will come rushing behind you as you wait for the race to begin. Most of the time they ram into the other guys car and he gets turned off course.--now is your chance to get a head start and out race him--. If that doesn't stop him, try and drive as close as you can to him (with the 4 or more star rating) and you'll most likely come upon police men throwing spike strips. If you're lucky enough he will fall victim to them.

oh and regarding where im at, i am stuck in the game. :\
I bought most places i can think of, and i STILL haven't advanced. My last purchase was the printing works.
