Unhappy Me complaining about a group project.

In my customer skills class we had to pick group members for the entire semester, and the teacher went on and on about choosing dependable and creative people, bla bla. Then he says ok, pick your group. We had no chance to know any of these people, so I got stuck with this asian guy who pronounces 'Lord of the rings' as 'Wo wo wo wee' plus two leftover guys who also have weird accents and bad english.

So we got together for the project and it seemed alright and we made an outline and everything, then this one guy offered to go turn it into a draft in paragraph form, etc. He seemed to have good english so I said yeah ok. So he just emailed his draft and it's totally different than our outline and leaves out most of the ideas we came up with. The grammar sucks balls as well. Now I have to somehow redo the whole thing without saying he's unsmart and has sucky english. Plus the other two guys have given no input and it's due Friday morning.

This is why I'm complaining.

Discuss.

I have a pretty good group of people for my Developmental Psych project but I've had a lot of bad experiences. I just recommend letting your instructor know about the other three without sounding like you're complaining. I've had a few flake out towards the end of the semester and it'll really bite you in the ass.

The teacher is a hardass who's always pissed, and he made a huge point of letting us choose our groups so that we can't come complaining to him.

Most of my school is umm.. I don't know the term except to say foreign people... so a lot of them don't have english as their first language. And apparently none of my group as well. Uncool!

'Wo wo wo wee' is funny though, it took me 5 minutes to figure out what he was saying.

That sucks... I wish I had SOME kind of project in at least one of my classes this semester... but it's just tests. All 4 classes, just 4 tests for the grade. I hate that. I do well on tests, so that's no biggie, but I (most of the time) like doing projects.

It does suck though, when you don't know anyone in the class when it's time to choose groups... You have no idea who you're getting stuck with. ---which is why I usually end up doing most of the work in the groups because the other people either aren't reliable or I don't trust them to do good enough work.

One of my instructors overenrolled her class last Thursday because 5 seniors needed it to graduate. And she said she didn't want to read 30 people's 20 page paper, so we would write group papers instead, and did that sound fair?

Thankfully there were other people who went apoplectic at that suggestion. I hate the idea of other people impacting my grade.

Group work is always terrible. I wish I could find more lazy, apathetic procrastinators capable of quality last minute work. Instead I either get people who produce shitty work, or people who insist on meeting and working constantly when I just want to NOT WORK.

I'm so pissed at the teacher for making us keep the same groups for the entire semester.

I'm just going to redo the thing from scratch and then somehow act like it's a revised version of his so they don't think I'm taking over, which I am.

And probably will have to do the same thing all semester.

Haha, this was what it was the last 4 years for me! It was fun in a strange way, the amount of stress it brought, the relief when getting a good grade for something you made in one night work. Drinking loads, loads of coffee in the morning just to be able to deliver a somewhat decent presentation without having to search for words, or staring out of the window and not hearing what the teachers asked about the project.

Luckily I never had to work in a big group, 3 people max.

Sean, I'm literally two weeks away from being an English as a second language teacher. Maybe I can help!
