Ok.. listen to this and give me your opinion

Our manager and his best friend Jordan (also in our department) have gone on vacation together for a week starting today (6th - 13th, Jordan taking off the 6th-16th). Our morning crew was pretty much obliterated, since the manger and Jordan are both our morning guys. The tech who works directly the same shift as I do, Anthony (7:30-3pm) requested off for a week (10th - 16th) two months ago because his wife is having a baby, set to induce labor on Monday. Jon, our manager denied the whole week off to Anthony (the guy who's wife is having a baby) and gave him Monday and Tuesday (10th and 11th) and said he needs to come in the rest of the week from 7:30am-11:30pm, just he and I being on shift. Anthony said he can't because they're not set to get out of the hospital until Thursday, and the earliest he would be able to come in would be Friday. Jon did not discuss this w/ him at all and just made the schedule and headed to Mexico.

I've requested help from the other department manager, to see if she can pull someone from their shift over for 3hrs on Wed and Thursday, but she said that was a no go. So I want to tell Anthony, fuck it, take off and come back Friday, but I'd be here by myself for two days the entire day (till 1:30pm).

Wasn't that an assholish thing to do? Which is more important, taking a fucking vacation or someone having a baby? It's stupid.

tl,dr - I know. I just wanted to bitch because I think this is unreasonable and wanted to know if anyone else thought it was too. blah.

Yes, I agree, but then I'll be here (call center) all by myself for 6hrs... answering 12lines, which are often all lit up at the same time.

It's your boss' mess but he heaped it on you. I'd not worry about it and tell that guy if he wants to come in, fine, and if not, fine.

That's pretty fucked up. I'm sure that guy would be totally grateful if you helped him out like that. You might even get something out of it too!
