Angry Attn: Notre Dame

Your play was disappointing today. Go out and get a real QB for next year please.

Notre Dame had a better record and played a much tougher schedule than WVU.

I think WVU is a better team. But regardless, in the BCS, the gator bowl is supposed to feature th #2 Big East team, which is WVU. Hence, fuck notre dame

btw, didn't you used to go on mirc's efnet's #smashing_pumpkins channel alot?

Actually for BCS purposes Notre Dame is considered a Big East team.

The only Smashing Pumpkins chat I went to was the old SPC chat and I was there a lot as were LucySkyDiamonds, Mayfuck, and pale_princess. I know I'm forgetting some.

but how's that? Notre Dame is the only team in the US that's not in a conference...you mean just for bowl games they're considered in the Big East?

That is correct. If Notre Dame's record is better than that of the #2 Big East team then they will go to that bowl game.

Nah, there are other independents.

But their play today was just disgusting. I was horrified. I know they're not a spectacular team, but they are fully capable of destroying NC St. Maybe if Holiday wasn't so goddamn soft. And Dillingham wasn't a worthless piece of trash.

Bah.

Um...I want to say Army, but I'm really not sure.

I think there are at least around 6 independents. None of them ever have any success though...aside from Notre Dame.

independents
Connecticut
Navy
South Florida
Troy State
Utah State

I don't know if I agree that WV is better than ND. ND was down a few players today...but they should not have looked that bad.

I hadn't heard that about ND being considered a Big East team before. I just thought that they would basically receive an at-large bid. Interesting.

Ah, so I was kind of close with the Independents..

And Notre Dame isn't officially considered to be part of the Big East...just for certain bowls' conference tie-ins, it will be like the #2 Big East team or Notre Dame. So I think they get to pick which one they want if both are available.....

...or maybe not...I dunno

That's what it is. Notre Dame is considered a part of the Big East for BCS purposes solely. They are not a part of any conference. THey almost joined the Big Ten about 5 years ago but that was shot down by their board of directors.

They are very smart for being an independent with the following that they have. It is huge income for the school having that contract with NBC. They wouldn't be able to do that if they were in a conference.

I didn't think that for BCS purposes they are considered to be Big East. They are specifically listed separately in the BCS documentation. Anyways, the BCS only applies to the Rose, Orange, Fiest and Sugar bowls. ND just needs to finish in the top 12 to be given an at-large bid to one of the games.

As far as other bowls, maybe they are viewed differently, and Notre Dane can receive an at large bid. But, for BCS I don't think the Big East and ND have anything to do with it. I could be wrong, but that is how I thought it worked.

Oh and there was no way they would have joined the big ten. First because of the NBC contract, and due to the fact that if they make it to a BCS bowl they get the entire $13M, whereas in the Big Ten you split it w/ the other schools. In addition, they stated that they felt that joining a conference would then create the affiliations education wise, which ND did not want.

Ok, Notre Dame has an agreement for Bowl games outside of the BCS. They are thrown into the Big East pool of selections, so the Gator Bowl had the choice of ND or WV....which really is no choice at all.

Are you saying that because both teams suck or because anyone in their right mind would pick ND over WV for a bowl game?

I hope it is the latter.

you're right, but it sucks when these fucks knock off your team. Even though wvu looked horrible during the Continental Tire Bowl, it sucks that they were #13 and had to go to that bowl.

It would have been a good game to see WV play ND, with how they both looked.

I think most high school QB's are better than Dillingham.
