Isn't the Lost Boy something about an orphan kid..? I heard it's pretty good and I've been wanting to read that book for a while..but I'm not finished with the Lord of the Rings yet.. =/

I refused to go past p. 100 or so. The only Oprah book club book worth reading is "The Poisonwood Bible".

My favorite Marquez is probably "Of Love and Other Demons", too, but I would suggest "Love in the Time of Cholera" instead.

Other excellent choices:
"Blindness" - Saramago (fun, important and interesting)
"Half A Life" - Naipaul
"The Tin Drum" - Grass (difficult but magnificent)

tony bourdain sourta makes me go eh. i mean it's obvious he loves food and has great reverence for chefdom, but i personally doubt he's really a fantastic chef. like. he hates vegetables. that is just wrong in my book. i don't think anyone who has so much spite for vegetables could really be a great chef. pfft. and i mean there are other reasons. his. i watched this thing he had like a friday or two ago and his old teachers basically told him the same thing , you know, being a succesful chef is management possibly more than food-making, and this i forget his name, he was talking to tony and he told him that he's not new or inventive or anything, just very driven, or something i forget. i wanna read kitchen confidential but i am scared to sorta :erm
