Red face Randy Johnson Traded To Yankees

lol

Didn't feel like digging up the old MLB thread... I got mixed feelings, but I guess its good knowing we have the best pitcher in baseball for a guy who can't handle New York.

Navarro is not going anywhere quickly I believe. His defense is good but his hitting is weak.

Duncan has talent... but he won't be as good as A-Rod, who will be at third base for the next six years.

Randy Johnson is such a porno name.

He's finally going to have to part with the mullet once and for all, eh?

navarro is all of 20 years old. and they likely would have moved duncan to 1st. i'd rather it were halsey and graman, like i'm reading elsewhere.

anway, if it's true, i'll come around at some point but right now i feel like this guy from nyyfans: "This fucking sucks. I hate Arizona. In 4 years when Johnson is long retired and Duncan is an all-star, I'm going to kill everyone in the world."

I don't mind when upstarts like the Marlins win (or in fact any of the teams who won 2001-2003) ... that's legitimate and it's good for baseball and that's good. It's bullshit when people think the Red Sox winning is somehow freeing and indicative of "good baseball" because they're just as bad as the Yankees.

People who act like Boston and the Yankees are the only teams who pay for stars are crazy.

Because Detroit, Seattle, Arizona, and the Mets don't spend money on big name players? It's not just limited to teams with larger budgets.

I don't know about Brian Cashman, but Esptein inherited a depleted farm system and is trying to rebuild it. You do what you have to do in the meantime. And players are just as at fault as teams--for every Brad Radke there are five other guys who would rather get a big pay day and call it respect.

That's the state of baseball today.

The Yankees have the money to spend because Steinbrenner has owned them for over 30 years and is just making constant profit off of them. The Red Sox do not have that kind of leeway (well, didn't until they won the WS, that was a huge break) cause their owner has owned them for all of 2 years and is still paying back for the team and stadium.

I also blame ESPN and the rise of highlight reels for the lack of team playing these days. Instead of hitting for average people want to hit long balls and thus strike out more.

I don't know how this relates to what I said, but okay. I was saying that a team can be competitive in the bigs but have a rebuilding farm system. The Duquette Era fucked Boston's farm system to bits, and Epstein is trying to make it better, but it takes awhile to rebuild and current problems have to be addresed. But I didn't mean this anti-Yankees because I'm guessing that Cashman has the same idea.

Bam Bam Bigelow and my Uncle David had a baby. That is the spawn.

I liked the signs at Fenway that said, "WHO NEEDS JOHNSON? WE GOT BRONSON!"

Keep on that curveball, baby.

I was more addressing the issue from a Yankees perspective. Like, they don't need a farm team. It's going to go to shit though when Steinbrenner does not own the team anymore.

Good move for the Yanks. Navarro is really really not ready for the majors. I saw him play twice this year and he was batting around 230 in AA and was lost at the plate. Oh and he's slow and threw out 1/4 baserunners. Haven't seen Duncan, but giving up a struggling but talented SP and two decent prospects for Johnson, even if he only has 2 years left, is worth it.

Remember, the Yankees don't need a farm system, they have the rest of the league. Now if Selig would only allow them to buy their players, it would make it a lot easier!
