Thumbs down Craig Ferguson to replace Kilborn

TV briefs: Ferguson chosen to replace Kilborn

NEW YORK — Scottish actor Craig Ferguson, who played the boss on "The Drew Carey Show," will be the new host of CBS' "Late Late Show" beginning Jan. 3.

He replaces Craig Kilborn, who announced in August he was leaving the 12:30 a.m. talk show after five years.

Ferguson passed through a gauntlet of on-air tryouts and was one of four finalists, with actor Michael Ian Black, comedian D.L. Hughley and MTV "Total Request Live" host Damien Fahey.

Ferguson wrote and starred in the films "Saving Grace" and "The Big Tease." He was a top comic in Britain before moving to Los Angeles in 1995.
This sucks. He's really not funny. Michael Ian Black was easily the best choice followed by (I'm serious) that Fahey guy. This is a horrible choice.

I'm kinda happy Micheal Ian Black didn't get it. There's other places where his talents wouldn't be wasted.

well the first time i ever heard morrissey was on kilborn, so i will be a diehard kilborn fan for life.
aside from that he was funnier than conan, who in turn is funnier than all of the rest of them combined.

drew carey is the least funny piece of trash ever. the comedian and the show and everyone involved. that oswald guy peaked in office space.

you're fucking stupid.
kilborn never, ever said anything remotely funny. he tried to hard to be smug and he came off as arrogant.

his show made me laugh. leno and letterman i would not even consider humor, and im not going to go into why their shows suck and why their jokes are so stupid and reaching, but conan and kilborn i found funny and conan i found at times gimmicky. "look at me im a wee funny man. did i mention im irish? say things in a funny voice!"

I never really watched Kilborn, so I don't really care who replaces him.

uh, that was his schtick. the apparrent arrogance was on purpose, not unintentionally genuine. that was the point. it was hilarious, in my opinion. it was good old fashioned ultra-dry humor, and i don't feel wrong in calling it subtle too, since more than one person apparently completely missed it.

it could just be that he was really unfunny, though.
have you considered that?

i have, and i don't subscribe to that theory. that show had me cracking up way more than any of the other late night guys ever did, and i think what he was doing was every bit intentional.

ya, i wonder what kilborn will be uop to. i really like how seemed to generally want to get with all the actresses that came on oppsed to all the other guys. i cant watch leno, and i seem to be the only one that doesnt like conan. kilborn was more entertaining to me that conan. it seemed that letterman kilborn shjows were more based on their personality/ tv persona/whatever the fuck, why leno/conan seem to try to be funny more, and the usually arent so it just annoying.

even if lettermans show is halfassed now, he's still funny.

i heard amy sedaris was in the running, but didnt want the job. she would have been good.

i'm glad somebody understands. if one of us has enough money some day, we should recruit him to do a show for the real fans.

And I do agree that while Michael Ian Black is great, he could be doing something better.

I really hate Kilborn anyway, so I'm definately not shedding a tear.

Conan is the best.
