Question Should I go to this?

So there's this big New Year's Eve gala thing that the D.C. Society of Young Professionals is doing. I'm debating about whether or not I should go.

Pros of going:
-I've never done anything like this for New Year's Eve
-most people there would be my age and would have similar professional interests (i.e. politics)
-it has the potential to be a great job networking thing (DC is all about passing around your business cards (even on a Friday night at a bar)) and just a good opportunity to meet some new people
-I won't be sitting home alone doing nothing on New Year's Eve
-I can use my Christmas money to pay for the ticket
-my mom is willing to buy me a dress if I decide to use my money for the ticket for this event
-it could be a lot of fun

Cons of going:
-the ticket is over $150
-I would have to buy a fancy dress
-I would be going alone
-I could be using the ticket money to pay off my bills
-it could majorly suck

I'm willing to bet a Netphorian flame war would be more entertaining. You should stay home.

i'd say you should go for it. i mean, its better than being bored off your ass at home + watching Dick Clark(or any other New Years Day crap on tv, for that matter). and i mean, if you say your mom's willing to buy you a dress for this(+ that you'll be able to introduce yourself to potential employers), why not?
