Default Recommend some Xbox games for me

I'm kind of out of the gaming loop. This is the first system I've owned since the Dreamcast went kerplunk and I need help so I don't buy shitty games. I know that Halo is great, but besides that I am lost.

The Great Return: is a wonderful game. It's based off a real story where you (the gameplayer) take your xbox back to the store you bought it from and return it for a gamecube or a ps2

if you like snowboarding, i suggest you pick up amped which i've seen as low as $25 bucks canadian. i'm getting splinter cell for christmas, which is supposed to be amazing, but i've only played it for a few minutes. the new bond game is pretty fun in multiplayer, and has bots so you can play alone, but the single-player is really short. if you're a sports fan, sega's football and basketball games are amazing.. i picked up ea sports nhl 2003 just out of tradition, and i like it, but i never played sega's hockey game. if you plan on getting xbox live, you should look into unreal championship and mech assault. both are supposed to be fun, but i've never played either.

Lessee

Splinter cell is good but short.

Project Gotham and Rallisport challenge are both first rate driving games.

DOA3 is a fun fighting game.

Jet set radio future is even better than the first one, so if you liked the dreamcast prequel it's well worht picking up.

Any of the tony hawk games.

Mechassault (that being said, you should invest in...)
X-Box Live Starter Kit
Shenmue 2 (it's a sequel, but it has like a 20 min. video explaining what happens in the first, Graveflower will tell you otherwise, but I played it and it was fucking awesome)
Halo (of course)
James Bond 007: Nightfire (excellent)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Dead to Rights

also, I may as well ask while I'm here, anyone have a modded x-box? I might get mine chipped in a few weeks because I don't think I could afford to get too many original x-box games when I already spend my game money on cube games.
I know that you can't use X-Box live if you get your box chipped though, that's one downside, but Live isn't even out here yet and won't be for a long time I doubt, since fuck all people have broadband

I thought it was a little dull, but most 'party' games don't appeal to me

have you tried playing them with 4 people, or are you playing them by yourself?
