"Metroid" Project Crashes

Coming Soon reports that according to Producer Yoshio Sakamoto, not much is happening on the "Metroid" movie front.

Back in April, it was announced John Woo had optioned Nintendo's best-selling video game franchise for the big screen. Woo would produce the sci-fi movie and has the option to direct with the first film top hit before 2006.

Sakamoto however told Nintendo Dream magazine that there are actually no plans at the current time for the movie to begin production - "There's been no progress [with the movie], There were some misleading reports before the E3 that Metroid's production was confirmed. But to be accurate, it's that the company that John Woo works for has gained the rights to negotiate with Nintendo of America to make Metroid into a movie. Metroid's production hasn't been officially decided yet, and there's no release plans for it".

So much for slo-mo white doves and Metroids together at last.

but good... I thought you meant Metroid Prime 2 had been cancelled. Fuck the movie and any video-game related movie. (resident evil, final fantasy, alien vs. predator, blahblahblah)
