How do you pronounce Crawfish?

I say it like "craaawfish". But I've heard people call it "cray-fish" almost like they're saying "crayon" minus the 'on' part.

and what's up with people saying pee-cans for pecans? it peh-cahns. I mean, pee-cans sounds like something all processed and put on a shelf in a metal box. totally not what pecans are.

Crawfish vs. crayfish. They're not different pronounciations. They're different words for the same thing.

We sold pecans recently as a German travel club fundraiser. Our teacher apparently told people specifically not to say "pee-cans" when asking people if they wanted to purchase any, because it makes you sound like a redneck.
