Red face new pixies album in 2005?

http://breakingnews.iol.ie/entertain...30&p=yy3564336

Pixies plan new album next year

09/08/2004 - 16:36:39

The Pixies plan to record their first new album in more than a decade next year, according to frontman Frank Black.

Black says he would like Tom Waits to produce the album because he likes the way his records sound.

Earlier this year the band recorded their first new song for 13 years, 'Bam Thwok' and released it on the internet - exclusively on Apple's iTunes Music Store.

The Pixies released their last album 'Tromphe Le Monde' in 1991. The band, which split in 1993, recently reformed for a series of North American and European shows, which *******d a concert at the Phoenix Park this year.

it's like My Bloody Valentine deciding to release another record... it just won't work out... it's another time and place now, 13 years later...
there will be way too much pressure and too high of expectations... i think it could hurt their credibility a bit...

true. i don't like the idea of a new pixies album at all, simply because of those reasons.

Hmm, nor have I. I sort of hope it's true but then of course I sort of hope it isn't. I love the Pixies but I didn't think the new song was anything too spectacular. I'd hate to see them get back together just to put out a bad album.

normally i'd think this would be disastrous and bad news but Bam Thowk has got me believing it could be an instant classic and the best album of next year.

I tend to be one of those people who doesn't entirely welcome this. I don't know. It's a credibility issue. I love the Pixies, but I want all of their material to remain as sacred as it is.

There's that, and then there's the fact they if they actually got Tom Waits to produce it, it would be a riot even if it sucked, and I mean "riot" in a good, fun (as opposed to unintentionally hilarious) way.

Obviously, you haven't listened to Trompe Le Monde recently.

Anyway, I'm by no means truly excited about this, but if Waits is at the helm it should at least be chaotic in the best possible sense.

yeah, that's the point they have to get over. i'd like to see them doing something fresh, no one expects them to go on with another doolittle. but it has to be good anyway.
to me bam thwok sounded like the first two albums with a modern production. and that's seriously not what i am looking for.

Uh, not liking the new album doesn't make any previous album any worse.
