I used to work at our school's dining hall, and we'd serve tater tots at breakfast some mornings.
It was funny to see some of the macho-type guys refuse to say "tater tots" and just point at them.

Our cafeteria sold them, and if you waited until after lunch when they were all dry and gross you could get them for free.

my mother used to serve them weekly when i was growing up along with fish sticks.
