The Hyatt is a nice central area to stay in. The only problem is the Financial District is dead at night.

Two days: One, definitely go to the JFK Library. The views of the city are incredible and the library is amazing.

Shopping: Newbury Street is where you want to go. http://www.newbury-st.com/ will hook you up with routes, shops, etc.

Food is plentiful. The Back Bay/Copley area has the best restaurants. Many Italian restaurants are very good. But, whatever you do, go to the Union Oyster House ... the oldest restaurant in the U.S.

Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market are fun, but a bit too touristy. The food courts in Faneuil Hall are incredible though. (Best chocolate mousse ever).

Go to the Public Gardens and ride the swan boats as wel. It' sjust incredible riding these old swan boats in the middle of the Commons.

The Freedom Trial (a free walking tour of U.S. history) is right outside your hotel basically. It is a must-do. The whole thing is more than three miles long, but the central area around the Commons and Quincy Market are very, very interesting.

Anything else?

Edit: Also go to the Boston Public Library. In my opinion, the most majestic library in the country.

Good deal. Have you been to Cambridge? Harvard Square is a fun place and has some very nice restaurants and shops/art houses too.

oh yeah! I'd like to go there. One of my best friends is going to Harvard so I have a feeling I'll be spending some time there this semester but it'd be fun to check out this week.
