Angry 2d games are better

i hate that just because you can do 3d games means you should, it's absolute bullshit that rayman, megaman, and yoshi's island/story all get tainted by polygons, when they could seriously push the limits of interactivity with a new and innovative 2D game that would just blow people the fuck away.

especially rayman, that game was genius.

FUCKING RIGHT!
3D is great, but ever since mario 64 came out years ago it seems like there hasn't been a single new 2D game made. 2D holds some distinct advantages over 3D, and could indeed benefit insanely from newer technologies. damn it, you'd think someone would figure this out after six years!

2D games allowed for simpler interfaces which translates into smoother gameplay, which is one of the main reasons 'old school' games seem so fun and addictive. not to mention 2D level design has tons of untapped potential. in retrospect, mario 64 was like this huge turning point. not to mention that pretty much every original groundbreaking interesting 2D franchise just got 'updated' into 3D titles that were more often than not lame generic first-person games.

online petition 4 u?

I, too, prefer the glut of 8-bit NES games to today's, but some 3-d games have impressed me. I didn't enjoy Mega-Man's 3/d outings or the Castlevania ones, though.

Wasn't the original GTA 2d? That was the shit! It was everythign you ever wanted to do in an 8-bit Nintendo game.
