Default I saw Farenheit 9/11 this evening.

i left with my jaw clenched and it still is; it was unsettling, which is good because maybe it'll make people who campaigning isn't targeted towards go vote so this country can at least mildly improve. other than that, michael moore's style is really cool.

but keep in mind that editing does wonders. we can't blame Bush for all the shit that is going on. what about previous presidents and administrations?

it's impossible for one single person to take 100% of the blame.

me and gpub went to see it friday night. then i went home to tell my roomates to go, too.
i knew it before going into the movie, and felt the same when i left- micheal moore's films bring with them the stench of propoganda, but it was nice to see some different propoganda than i'm used to these days.

fyi - pretty much EVERYTHING you see and hear from newspapers, the evening news, and any other form of media is propaganda.

media is a business first, and a means of information second. Always keep that in mind

everything isn't his fault, but according to his warped view, nothing at all is his fault. if he were faultless, lots of poor kids wouldn't have to enlinst in an immoral war and risk death to avoid unemployment. it's ugly to be so careless with the lives of americans who risk their lives for their country even though their country risks nothing to make their home life decent.

maybe on an upcoming vacation he'll see the film and laugh about him telling moore to get a job.

everyone clapped at the theatre we were at. in fact, they clapped when the lights dimmed, they clapped after every preview, they clapped when micheal moore approached the senator regarding his children's inexistent status in the military, and they clapped when the film was over. it was crazy. before the movie we had to wait in this huge line that wrapped all the way around the ticket booths and into the entrance of the theater. there were so many people! they had to add a fourth final showing at 1:30 AM!

the theater i was in was crowded - people were standing on the stairs. that was annoying, and there WERE seats in the very front row. people are stupid.

i guess all the clapping you heard was pent up anger being relieved for people who feel like someone gets it, that they aren't alone.

yeah, i agree it's not all his fault. many people and corporations play a pivotal role in the corrupt organization that is the bush administration.

i see how people would say that michael moore's film do have a propagada aspect to them or an underlying feeling, but i don't see his motivation for wanting to fool people.

he always brings up his hometown, flint, michigan, and i think he's really out to show how people stricken with poverty are prioritized in this country. i tend to see sincerity in his point of view more than i see it in bush, who is backed by corporation and daddy and can't motivate without fear.

i mean, a lot of people already know many events that were in farenheit 9/11. it's really no secret, i'm just glad he got it out before the election.

this movie coming out a year from now would be completely different than it being released now. a lot of people may be motivated to be more politically active and i think right now is the perfect time to for it to have come out because unfortunately, for many people in my age group, documentaries like this are a way of knowing what's going on in the world.

I was kind of disappointed at how many times the theatregoers I was with exclaimed when some general piece of evidence was presented.

Movie: Many people who work for big corporations also play a role in our government!
People in theatre: (Surprised tone) No way!
Movie: Yes way, and Iraq and the rest of the Middle East has lots and lots of oil under the ground, and those same corporations can make money off of it!
People in theatre: Whoa!
Movie: Some other corporations actually make money when the United States goes to war, because we buy planes and all kinds of fantastical technogizmos from them!
People in theatre: Wait, are these people in our government too?
Movie: Some of the corporate heads are even in our very own government.
People in theatre: Wait, I think I understand how war could benefit them!

you probably read though, so for many people, who only watch broadcast television, this is new news to them.

it baffles me that in a country where you can read, so many people don't. most of these people might as well live in china where there isn't much offered to the citizenry.

no shit. people who aren't grateful for the things they have (like literacy) should die.

You may have been disappointed, but it was satisfying to see the lightbulbs light up in these people's mind as these tidbits of information were relayed to them. You can't blame people for not knowing about these things. Most Americans don't read the newspaper, and politics isn't the first thing they worry about in their daily lives (rightfully so.) This erudition, however, may get them to register and vote in November, so I don't think I could be disappointed in that.
