I just don't like it. I'm allowed to dislike certain words and phrases. I don't have to make sure they fit some sort of criteria before I can state that I don't like them.

I'm not arguing that you're not allowed to dislike them. I just think it's narrow-minded, it's too high-horse mentality. There's a time and a place for being proper, and there's a time and a place for being street. When I'm in class or at work or at a dinner party, I'm very polite, I don't use like, I say "My friends and I...." When I'm hanging out with my friends, my dawgs if you will, I kick the dialect down a notch, to be more relaxed.

I used to not like it either, but then, for some reason, I just stopped caring.

Yeah, Meghan was surprised at the ease with which I use the term dawg. It's all about delivery and intent.

There are a lot of things I don't like. I don't like thick southern accents....I hate Chicago accents.....I hate it when people say 'warsh' instead of 'wash.' And I hate certain forms of slang.

That's not narrow-minded of me at all. I am not on any kind of high horse. I just don't like certain things. I don't necessarily look down on people with accents or people who use slang I don't like.

Pittsburgh has the worst dialect ever. Somehow "creek" becomes "crick", "wash" is "warsh", "Steelers" is "Stillers", "downtown" is "daaahntaaahn", "spaghetti" is "shpaghetti"

Anyone who knows me in real life will validate that any of these statements are like nails on a chalkboard to me:

- "Wow, that's ironic" (when used incorrectly. See my old thread about the ironic banshee).
- "I feel nauseous."
- "I could care less."

That's pretty much it.
