Angry Fuckin Walmart

http://www.wired.com/news/games/0,2101,55955,00.html

God I hate them with a passion. Ever since the controversy surrounding the Sheryl Crow CD back in the day and including the recent Rolling Stone article that got the magazine banned in the stores, I've had a deep, festering hate for anything associated with the Walmart corporation.

hasn't the family that owns those crappy stores given money to organizations that have bombed abortion clinics? I think Domino's Pizza did the same thing.

I'm really surprised someone hasn't tried to organize a Wal-Mart boycott. But it probably wouldn't work as most of the trash who shops there wouldn't have the sense to know why they would be boycottng.

He doesn't travel in any circles. His closest association with circles are the impressions his fat ass leaves on his computer chair and even that is a stretch since fat people don't really have any consistent shape to their asses.

WalMart can have any policy they want. It's YOU who chooses to purchase stuff there.

The Walton family quit donating money to whatever that right wing Christian group is once they started bombing abortion clinics. It's no different than Paul Allen of Microsoft fame donating money that ends up in the hands of eco-terrorists and the world communist party.

I think you should praise the Waltons for their charitable contributions.

They still sell guns. At least they do in Wisconsin and Georgia. And I don't see what's wrong with censoring music that is bought by children and I certainly don't see what's wrong with selling guns to adults who can pass a ********** check and whatever else the state requires.

Anyway, Ralph Nader would be proud of this god forsaken thread.

Bingo.

Plus, didn't the video game company stop to think that if someone wanted the game and they didn't find it at Wal-Mart that they would perhaps go somewhere else?

And I don't.

I've had countless arguments with countless people about Walmart. I understand that what they do is legal, that they can choose not to carry any product they don't like, etc. etc. My hatred stems from the fact that they are so large and so influential in the consumer marketplace (25% of video games are purchased there, for example, according to the article) that they can prevent companies/musicians/whatever from putting out the product that they want to, instead having to tailor it to Walmart's specifications. I stop short of calling it censorship, unlike many others, because it is legal for them to do, obviously, but I still think it's borderline. One big gray area. And I'm not happy when the company/artist/whatever compromises their product to get the product in the store- I'd rather them stick to their guns... if enough people wouldn't compromise their products this wouldn't be an issue- but when up to 25% of your merchandise is purchased in one place, I can understand the dilemma.

New to me in the article was the hipocrasy of the company. So it's OK to sell GTA3 because it's guaranteed to bring in some money for them, but not BMX XXX or whatever it is called because it's not a sure thing? It's one thing to have the policies they do, but to make exceptions to that? What a crock.

That's what the Parental Advisory is for. If a kid goes to buy it, check the ID. I don't see why this should be an issue for them.

walmart does bite.
i will probably get laid-off of my job because them walmart bastards just opened a huge supercenter on the other side of town. i work in a smaller midwest chain of stores (some of you prolly have shopped at meijer before)... anyway, walmart has been proven to create 'false prices,' selling items for way below cost to drive all competition out of the area, and then raising prices once the competitors are gone. since walmart is a national chain they can afford to "cheat" with false prices. smaller chains like meijer, can't compete with that shit. so far 2 chains have closed in my area because of the walmart supercenter. another big reason people hate them is b/c walmart carried clothing lines that were proven to run sweat shops in Asia somewhere.

in my opinion, i have always gotten better products at other stores. the walmarts i have been in are always dirty. many of their workers are rude. and definitely, never buy meat or seafood from their supercenters. they use low quality shit meat.

i think there used to be a walmartsucks.com... but it looks like it isn't up anymore

edit:
my union website has a walmart petition, lol. the ppl who run walmart aren't letting their employees form their own union.
http://gopetition.com/region/238/988.html

and this is the site i thought was walmartsucks.com:
http://www.walmartwatch.com/
