every pit bull or pit mix i've ever met has been sweet too

but i just don't want to own an animal that is physically capable of ripping out a throat. does not seem worth it.

you can "train/abuse" any medium to large sized dog to the point where they display agression toward humans. They are no more likely to bite a human or attack a person than any other breed.

Pits (american pit bull terriers, staffies, bull dogs etc.) have traditionally been bread to be MORE SUBMISSIVE to humans than most other breeds.

if you look at dog bite stats for most any city in the country, the number one or two breed for bites/attacks is usually Labrador Retriever. But those incidents rarely make it into local media, and when they do the breed of the dog often gets changed to "pitbull".
