Default oh shit another Lollapalooza thread

http://blogs.suntimes.com/derogatis/...rs_confir.html

Lollapalooza 2008 headliners confirmed

Lollapalooza’s Austin, Texas-based promoters C3 Presents are not scheduled to make their official announcement of the acts performing at this year’s weekend-long music festival in Grant Park until Monday, but the Sun-Times has confirmed through industry sources all of the major artists.

Art-rock giants Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, the reunited Rage Against the Machine, Jack White’s side project the Raconteurs and hometown heroes Wilco and Kanye West will headline the main stages on Aug. 1-3.

The Raconteurs, Wilco and West will each be making their second appearance at the reinvented destination festival. Other repeaters among the more than 100 acts on this year’s bill are Gnarls Barkley, the Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, G. Love & Special Sauce, Blues Traveler and Mates of State.

Quite a few of the other acts — including many of the most promising — have earlier performed at Chicago’s two independently produced music festivals, Pitchfork and Intonation. These ******* Bloc Party, Cat Power, Stephen Malkmus, Girl Talk, Kid Sister, Office, the Cool Kids, Battles, the Go! Team, Jamie Lidell and Grizzly Bear.
Advance three-day passes are now on sale for a limited time for $190 (after which the price increases to $205) at www.lollapalooza.com.

For the full list of Lollapalooza acts, stay tuned to this blog!

yea, but there's other major differences...and Raconteures and Blues Traveler both put on good shows that year. Wilco is another one you can add to your list. If we're lucky ween will be there too.

Anyway, i already got my 3-day passes.

Most of the bands repeating put on great shows, but come on, this is a lot of repetition over a 3-festival span. I have a bunch of friends going who only went in 06... should be interesting to see what their reaction is.

Really, it makes me wonder if the story is accurate, or if someone is pulling his chain. We'll find out next week, but I'll be honest... that would be somewhat disappointing.

yea, i guess. but raconteurs have a new disc...and blues traveler have plenty of material to use for a set....but i see your point. mayeb they figure with so many bands playing simultaneously they can get away with some non-headliner repeats.

i just hope, with this mostly confirmed now....that Radiohead still comes through and does a non-festival show. I guess if Lolla counts as their chicago date...then i'll be driving to indy or st. louis. hahaha...i shoudl just chill...still have texas to look forward to in 7 weeks.

hooray for broken social scene! i've missed them every time they've come through, and now i can't miss it. fuckin' ay.

so, no miley cirus? I was really hoping for a NIN/Hannah Montana polar opposite freakout one night.

i didn't realise there's some sort of ironic love cult for hannah montana among indie poppers and altrockers these days

pretty disturbing on all levels

it has nothing to do with ironic love. i just think it would be funny to see moms, dad, and their kiddies running around the burliness of a bunch of freaks there to see NIN.

yea, thats bizarre. i expected them to play unopposed on sunday teh 3rd, just like they did for Pixies, RCHP and PJ the last 3 years.

I wonder if they adjusted this just for radiohead...or if they got rid of the sunday unopposed slot all together in favor of havign 2 headliners simultaenously each night (like they normally do on fri & sat).

personally i thought it was cool to have everyone in the fest all at one stage during at least 1 point in the festival. thats where all the best aerial photos come from.

anyway, i checked individual band websites:

radiohead - 8/1
raconteurs - 8/1
rage - 8/2 (according to the forums, tour page says 8/1-8/3)
wilco - just says 8/1-8/3
nin - 8/3
kanye - nothing listed yet.

so looks like either racontuers will play earlier than RH, or the 2 headliners a night thing will happen.
