Default Most overrated "Legendary Album"

I've always found Sgt. Pepper to be a good album...but for me, they'd done better....I guess it was innovative for the times, but I've always felt it was always a titch overrated...not as timeless as some of the Beatles other later work. How about everyone?

The Clash - London Calling. It's overweight and only serves as a warning to Sandinista!

Yeah, I was really dissapointed when I heard Sgt. Peppers, mostly because I'd already heard half the songs in commercials.

U2 - The Joshua Tree

I love U2. That being said, I simply think that The Unforgettable Fire and Achtung Baby are about a mile ahead of it. Aside from thr first three tracks, what on the album is memorable? I've never been a big fan of Bullet The Blue Sky (blather on all you want about its political significance), and the rest of the album ranges from a nice listen to okay. In contrast, Achtung Baby and The Unforgettable Fire are jam-packed with memorable tunes. Neither are perfect, mind you, but they're wonderful.

The Wall. I really enjoy most Pink Floyd, but the Wall is almost unlistenable.

Other legendary albums that are far overrated: Nevermind, Zeppelin's II and IV, Second Helping...most so called rock masterpieces from the 70's are pretty overrated, actually.

meh. Dark Side probably isn't worth all the praise it constantly gets, but it's still good imo.

My fav PF album is Atom Heart Mother, Obscured By Clouds, or Piper At The Gates of Dawn...well, pretty much anything up to DSOTM are my favs.

I agree. I never found that album to be all that memorable. To me there's no doubt that Achtung Baby is their best record.

Red face

The first thing to come to my mind was Sgt. Pepper. It's good, but I rarely find myself coming back to it like I do my other Beatles albums.

And I don't see what anyone sees in The Wall. Really.

i agree. PiL is way better than the sex pistols--but that's not why they're famous, is it?
