it depends on the band, for the most part, and then a little on which song you're talking about
of course bands can have fun with music
i personally can't generally get into bands that tend to be all about making 'fun' music
i believe that music itself should communicate emotion. there's nothing wrong with communicating a little joy every now and then, but if it's all you do it gets really tired imo
