That's actually a relief to hear. The albums getting overwhelmingly positive reviews from fans online. I keep listening while wondering if I'm just missing something, or if perhaps it's a slow burner... But I'm just finding little to like.
I think the real truth is that people are just so devoted to Billy that they simply wanna fool themselves into liking something when it's new... Or perhaps if it simply isn't god-awful they're relieved.
In that regard Teargaren was actually a stroke of genius... Because now there's this anxiety that goes along with any new Corgan release, and when it isn't a complete pile of steaming dung, people let out a sigh of relief and celebrate.
But come on guys, a bland mediocre release is still a bland mediocre release.
