The Wire can be tough at first for non-native speakers and non-Americans in general due to the extreme level of acronyms, abbreviations and otherwise colloquial references to other characters and events within that context of United States law enforcement and the justice system.
That said, anybody capable of figuring out who is who within the first two seasons of Game of Thrones should probably make it.
