i don't know what liberal bubble you live in, but in most places on this planet it is still much more convenient to be, for example, homophobic.
i was raised homophobic and i still act that way here and there. but i realized a long time ago that it was wrong. and the times when i have spoken up against it to family or friends resulted in nothing that was very pleasant for me.
so i think it's much harder to try to change and fight against bigotry than to stay in it. i mean i live in orlando, where rainbow flags fly openly from ppls houses. and yet still, on the street, i hear all sorts of vicious stuff.
