it depends on your standards of "greatness." some might hold out for a siamese dream track. i say "there it goes. i bet billy was so fucking proud after hearing the final mix.

on a side note, sometimes i wonder how easy it could have been for billy to quit. in 1988. 1987. after the marked. if some studio would have been booked a certain day, and billy was not inspired by what the band sounded like on a specific track, that could have been the end. it all could have ended before it started. what if billy stayed home that night he met d'arcy? what if billy's dad was not a musician? if he had good parents? what if he was born in ohio? there could have been nothing so easily...

i guess i believe in miracles...
