That could have worked, or he could have just done what every other band in the entirety of existence has done; announce the song a day or two in advance, and then send out an email blast and update social media the day it came out. The two months of hype and "first single with Smashing Pumpkins 7.0 minus D'arcy" made the let down that much more pronounced. The only good thing I can say about Monuments to an Elegy was the band just released singles normally. It made an average song like "One and All" more tolerable because it hadn't been hyped so much.
