Record companies are willing to do a lot of things to get people to listen to their music. There are many reports of companies using bribery to get radio stations to play their songs. The top 100 charts are easily manipulated. All this effort, some of it criminal, to get people to listen to their music.

But then we have file sharing. People copy files from somebody else to listen to the music, and the record companies are suddenly all "OH NO WE DON'T LIKE THAT!"

So fuck the record companies. I hope they all go out of business. The music will find its way out there one way or another.
