listened to porcelina for the first time in ages recently, on headphones

was so struck by the transition into the first verse– when, immediately following the introductory "heavy" passage, the guitar/regular drums are panned hard left, and the synth/tribal drums are hard right

i mean this was not a new thing i'd noticed by any means, yet in this particular moment of re-listening it was surprising and lovely. i was reminded of the pleasure in listening to/experiencing music, of enjoying the interaction of the sounds, silly as i feel typing that phrase

love the strange noise in the first chorus, at about 4:37 or so, like pulses moving out across a distance

also the rich, e-bow-like feedback that kicks in around 8:00
