I was a huge fan of his during his life (and still after). He was an amazing artist. I remember watching a video of one of his recording sessions. He played all the instruments himself, but was so ADD that he couldn't stick to one instrument for very long and was constantly going between the whole slew of them. Between recordings, he took skateboard breaks.

He seemed so chill. If I had never heard his lyrics, I would have thought he had no problems in the world.

His Figure 8 album is my favorite. I like the energy in it a little more than the others. His album "From a Basement on a Hill" was morbid for more reasons than just the fact that it was the last album he ever worked on before his death. It was full of sarcastic cheer over bleak words.
