I read an interesting article the other day (that i would have to go back through my history and try to find) and the author's main point was that the problem with pop culture boils down to the fact that it is spoonfeeding a selected emotional response to you. It's telling you what to think/how to feel yet doesn't expand further than that.

Which I guess is why some people call it shallow or superficial.
