told this story at least half a dozen times here but when I got my wisdom teeth out in high school, the swelling in my throat triggered some really strange, rare reaction type thing in which tissue pressed against some nerve or something, and induced hiccups. Beginning about 2 hours after I left surgery, I had uncontrollable, violent hiccups for the next ~72 hours. It was nightmarish. I honestly cannot recall the pain from the procedure because it is eclipsed by my diaphragm and chest being so sore I felt like I was having a heart attack every time i hiccuped. By the end I was in a state of delirium from not sleeping. Doctor gave me Thorazine, Thorazine, Thoraaaaziiiine to calm me down. Hiccups subsided within half an hour.

Since then, every time I get a hiccup my stomach fills with a sensation of black dread and my blood runs cold.

But seriously did they give you any good drugs?
