A. If you are bothered by using square brackets within parentheses, either abandon Chicago style (because it does not suit your needs) or rephrase the text to eliminate the need for double parentheses.
This essentially says parentheses within parentheses are fine. Wow, you spent the money on an English degree to be kinda sorta right about something - like I said in an earlier post. Worth it!
I was an English major, too, but it's been a useless degree so far.
