My understanding from Billy's quote about it back then was that he was listening to his old recordings and was struck by how "Pumpkins-like" this one sounded. So, he decided it was a "Pumpkins demo" and stuck it on there. There was never any indication then that they had rerecorded it for SBA.
Cannot for the life of me remember where I saw Billy discuss it, though.
