SO: When the Smashing Pumpkins were at their peak, they did an interview and mentioned Chainsaw Kittens as one of their “three favorite bands”, and I remember thinking how rad that was. On the album you’re working on now, ex-pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will contributing. Did you have a collaborative or close relationship throughout your time with the Kittens? How did he get involved with the new album?

Tyson: Over the years, Jimmy and I have stayed in contact. When I came upon this idea to do this record in China with students I immediately thought it would be the perfect chance to work with Jimmy because I have always loved his crazy awesome drumming.
