there is a lot to say in this discussion, but first of all, acting out sexually or violently is not the same as eating too much. obviously, one has victims and one only has itself as a victim. there are other costs to society, yes. and to people who love that person, yes. but unless we decide all destructive behavior is criminal and/or shameful, i have to think we can tell the difference between inherently antisocial acts and self defeating acts.
there are a lot of reasons people have uncontrolled behavior. it doesn't give it a pass for anyone - violent person, drug addict, obese person - but obviously there are different consequences for increasingly antisocial behaviors. you can't possibly think assaulting people and eating too much cake are morally equivalent.
