Also, PHM is great for the time and era and zeitgeist of the moment, but other than a few classic tracks, aged beyond terrible
I also do not understand why the trilogy isn’t universally *raved* about. Critically the trilogy is the best stuff Trent’s ever put out, but the fans seem split. It’s noisy and angry with screaming, very industrial, nostalgic, weighty with concept, cryptic artwork and themes, but also has lots of live instruments.
The songs are rock solid, She’s Gone Away, Burning Bright, Less Than, Not Anymore, Background World, Shit Mirror, Ahead of Ourselves, Play the Goddamn Part, Over and Out...
I think aggressive and challenging music isn’t for the older part of NIN’s fanbase anymore
